The lead email is displayed as leads.guest?
In the digital age, privacy and data protection have become paramount concerns, especially with the new GDPR law in place. One way we strive to maintain compliance with these regulations is through the use of disposable emails. Our most important task at Obsidione is to protect our customers integrity. Therefore, all our leads will have a personal email address, hereby defined as guestmail.
What is a guestmail?
Disposable emails are temporary email addresses that are created for a short duration, typically to fulfill a specific purpose and then discarded. These email addresses are not meant for long-term use but serve as a means to protect privacy and mitigate risks associated with sharing personal email addresses.
When a lead is submitted, a guestmail is automatically generated for the respective lead. This guestmail serves as a temporary email address that forwards all incoming communication directly to the customer. By using guestmails, we ensure that customers' personal email addresses are shielded from potential data breaches or unauthorized access by third parties, and that communication between your company and the customer remains within a controlled environment, reducing the likelihood of data leakage.
Once the communication is complete, the guestmail is discarded, minimizing the risk of data retention. From the time the lead is created, the email address is valid for seven (7) days. Thereafter, it is deactivated and then deleted permanently at a later stage.
The build structure is like this: leads.guest+<unique access code>@obsleads.com. This access code is completely unique and has no relation with the assigned lead reference.
Why is this implemented? Could I have the real email address from the customer?
By employing guestmails within our lead submission process, we offer customers a heightened level of privacy and security, allowing them to interact with our providers without exposing their permanent email addresses. These guestmails serve as a shield against spam and unwanted solicitations, as their short-lived nature and limited circulation reduce the risk of becoming targets for unsolicited messages. Moreover, the integration of guestmails underscores our dedication to GDPR compliance and the protection of customer data, reassuring both customers and regulatory authorities of our commitment to safeguarding sensitive information throughout the engagement process.
To answer your question: NO, we will never share you the real email address for the customer. However, if the customer chooses to reply to your message, you will have their real email address displayed.
What about the marketing consent?
The marketing consent given by the customer will remain unaffected. If the customer has consented to marketing, you will be able to download their agreed data separately.
👀 Be careful with your communication! All communication sent to these email addresses will be stored internally for 90 days. As a security measure, in case of lead disputes or complaints from the customer, we're able to read and access the communication provided from your end.
